Work rant.

So I was promoted to a new position at work which was a blessing because it nearly doubled my hourly rate and sounds awesome on a resume. I was set to create and run a secondary afterschool program in a church because the original had filled up last year and was very popular. When I accepted the position, I was told they were giving it until October to see how it ran. This was the beginning of August. Two weeks into August they finally started advertising and my numbers were rising. The next week I receive a huge street sign from my boss to help promote the location. The following day we get notified the school transportation authority denied our request to make the place a bus stop. The next day I get a call from my boss saying that his boss cut my program. It didn’t sound right at all. I did some digging and found out the only reason he cut my program was because the location couldn’t be licensed by the state child welfare department, and to run a daycare, it has to be licensed. No bus stop = no licensing. My supervisor was confused and found out his ulterior motive was to make a daycare at the location since each child brings in massive $$ from the state. I was just a rouse.

I was devastated because I couldn’t help but feel it was a reflection of my performance. It was multiplied because this happens just when they hire all new people for the position I was doing and a new person for the same position I’m doing but at the original location.

Numerous people keep asking the boss why they didn’t keep the position open until it was sure my program was going to stay going. He doesn’t give them straight answers and keeps evading the question. It’s also fishy because she was hired despite the fact that she isn’t willing to work the hours necessary for the position. It just doesn’t make sense.

I got a call from my boss the Thursday after he cancelled me and said “guess what? transportation made a mistake measuring and they can make a bus stop there. too bad huh?” What a fucking shady douchebag.

My program ended last Friday and as of now I have no idea what I’ll be doing. I am very worried about being terminated since contract evaluations are at the end of this month and I have this gut feeling they’re going to say I’m no longer needed.

Ridiculous.
